Abstract : TIROS III radiation measurements are taken from binary tape, selected for a given geographic region, accepted under satisfactory model conditions and interpolated to points for which no fix is given. These raw data are then fit to a uniformly spaced set of grid points covering the region of interest. The fitting procedure is either a least squares polynomial fit or a weight function fit, the choice depending on the nature of the data in the influence region about the grid point. A sample analysis and statistical information on data distribution are presented to suggest the effectiveness of the analysis procedure to the type of data under consideration. (Author)
