Abstract : Several methods to decrease the time response of feedback control systems have been developed. A relatively easy method for decreasing the total time response is introduced. The method can be applied to linear position control system of any order. The systems may have real poles, real zeros, complex poles and complex zeros, as long as there is freedom to have one kind of switch between elements, and another kind of switch to inject signals into the elements during certain intervals of time. Application of the method to systems with ramp input and effects of some nonlinear components are also investigated. The switching computer required to operate the switches is very simple; the switches can be opened and closed at the right time, by comparing the input signal to the output signal in the switching computer; the output velocity signal may be required to increase the sensitivity of the switching computer. For any system of any order, the same components of the switching computer can be applied. (Author)
