Abstract : The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of an audience on the emission of dominant and subordinate responses. A procedure (previously used by Zajonc and Nieuwenhuyse, 1964) which was sensitive to drive effects was employed. It was predicted that response emission in the pseudo-recognition task would be characterized by an interaction between the habit-strength and the audience-variables.
