Abstract : Trimethylethoxysilane and dimethylethoxysilane that had been tagged with deuterium were separated by preparative gaseous chromatography. The basis part of the chromatograph was a column of 2-meter steel tubes with 30-mm diameter, connected by U-shaped passages, so that the column was 7 meters long in all. The samples were vaporized and fed by a nitrogen gas carrier stream into the column where they were subdivided into their components. The divided fractions were directed, with the aid of a sampling device of 7 electromagnetic valves, into proper traps where they were frozen out by liquid nitrogen. At a working temperature of the column of about 100C, mixtures of compounds with boiling points up to 160-170 C could be separated.
