Abstract : Response Errors are categorized into two major groups: (1) Respondent Errors, i.e., Deliberate and Reporting Errors and (2) Instrument Errors, i.e., Commitment, Item-order, and Item-tone Errors. A review of literature is undertaken, investigating different sources of Response Errors. It is shown that respondent behavior is generally a function of three major stimuli: item-content, social, and instrument. (Author)
