Abstract : An examination of the development and procurement cost of aircraft turbine engines. The results are based on the history of 14 engines costing approximately $8 billion. Engine size and quantity in addition to institutional and environmental influences bear on the cost estimates. This study is intended primarily for those involved in long-range planning exercises on manned military aircraft employing air-breathing engines. (Author)
