Abstract : The radiation coupled supersonic flow past a wedge (or cone) is formulated using the first approximation of the method of integral relations. Solutions obtained for wedge flow of an optically thin, i.e. nonabsorbing, gas indicate a temperature decrease and density increase along the surface with a corresponding shock wave decay. Radiation effects on velocity and pressure are relatively small. Anamolous behavior of the transparent gas far downstream of the leading edge suggests a criterion for estimating the region of validity for the optically thin gas approximation. (Author)
