Abstract : On the basis of experimental data, obtained during the study of elasticity of saturated oil and grease vapors, it can be concluded, that, if the oil or grease are designated for use within a period of long time in vacuum conditions, when the vapors of evaporating components do not effect the operation of the mechanisms, evaluation of the working period of the given lubricant will be insufficient by the value of the initial vapor elasticity. The initial vapor elasticity depends upon the admixture of light components, the removal of which sharply reduces vapor elasticity.
