Abstract : It can be concluded from the present analysis that a method has been developed to calculate the geometry of natural meteors entering the atmosphere, and to deduce actual values of heat transfer coefficients and luminous efficiency factors, starting from observations of velocity, altitude and luminosity for various epochs. Systematic application of the method to a series of meteor data should lead to the formulation of correlations for heat transfer coefficients and luminous efficiency factors. From the particular case of meteor Meanook 132 it already appears that the drag coefficients plays a predominant role at high altitudes and high velocities, that heat transfer is considerably larger than anticipated and that the luminous efficiency factor may not be regarded as constant but increases as the body penetrates the atmosphere.
