Abstract : The design and the result of investigations of semiconductor thermoelectric transistor coolers that operate at high temperatures of the medium are discussed. The thermal energy liberated in powerful germanium transistors operating at temperatures of the surrounding medium of 20 to 40C is scattered, as a rule, by means of radiators in conditions of forced or natural convection. At 55 to 60C, such a method of removing heat becomes inefficient because of the low maximum permissible temperature of the p-n junction of the transistor. In these cases, it is necessary to use different methods of cooling. Semiconductor thermoelectric coolers are very promisiing for cooling radio-electronic apparatus, as they are distinguished by the absence of moving parts or special cooling agents, noiselessness, simplicity of design and operation, convenient and flexible regulation, and easy transition from a cooling regime to a heating regime.
