Abstract : The experimental results, given by the recent shock tube technics, on the dissociation of diatomic gases are analyzed. A characteristic frequency of dissociation is derived, which allows one to correlate suitably the experiments on different gases. An elementary thermodynamic derivation of the chemical rate constants is presented. (Author)
