Abstract : The diencephalic mechanisms for rage were found to be under the inhibitory control of sino-aortic pressoceptors, and to be excited by chemoceptive firing. Inhibitory as well as excitatory effects can be induced also from the reticular formation. Lesion experiments indicate that rage activity is supported by the activating reticular system. Mapping diencephalic responses to somatic stimuli has led to define some limited foci of activation. A tonic inhibitory role on arterial pressure exerted by afferents from heart and lungs is described. (Author)
