Abstract : The ion-molecule reactions in ethylene (C2H4) were studied in detail up to fourth order processes in the pressure range 0.00008 to 0.0013 mm Hg. The intensities of the peaks are plotted as a function of the pressure. From the graph, the order and mechanisms of the formation of the product ions can be determined as a function of the energy absorbed by the molecule during the charge exchange. The ion-molecule reactions are discussed and some new processes are proposed. (Author)
