Abstract : The subject of this investigation is the extension of the dynamic range of a given measuring instrumentation by external means. If the output-input relation of the instrument is presented in the form of an ordinary differential equation, it is possible to restore the input far beyond the instrumental restrictions by computational means. A main operation involved in this process, differentiation, is treated from an instrumentational point of view. Examples of the input restoration for linear and nonlinear differential equations are presented. (Author)
