Abstract : The results of the constant volume spherical bomb method of studying the burning velocity for stoichiometric water catalyzed CO-O2 mixtures are given. Judging the results of the calculated and observed values of burning velocity and taking into account experimental error, the self-consistency of this method of obtaining velocities is verified. The burning velocity increases linearly with increasing temperature and this affect is more predominate at higher pressures. Burning velocity is affected little by pressure at room temperature; but at increased temperatures, it increases nearly linearly with pressure. Temperature has a greater affect on burning velocity than does pressure. Burning velocity increases nonlinearly at a rapid rate with increasing moisture content up to 2.25%. Thereafter, it increases linearly at a less rapid rate. (Author)
