Abstract : Strong Vocational Interest Blank (SVIB) scores of computer programmers were analyzed to determine their relationships to job satisfaction and to success as represented by salary level relative to experience and education. Although a few statistically significant relationships were found, they were of very low magnitude and little practical significance. SVIB items that differentiated between higher and lower relative salary groups in one sample of programmers were combined into a special scoring key, but the key was not appreciably related to relative salary in a second sample of programmers.
