Abstract : The solutions to a general class of transient non-axisymmetric wave problems involving an infinite elastic plate are presented. The equations of motion from linear elasticity theory are employed and the solutions are obtained through the use of superposition and multi-integral transform techniques. The method of stationary phase is applied to obtain the predominant far-field disturbance for two particular problems, namely the sudden application of symmetric point shear and normal half-ring loads, and a numerical study is given in the former case.
