Abstract : Sound absorption and velocity measurements have been made in pure SO2 and mixtures of 25 and 50% Ar with SO2 at room temperature, 400K and 500K. The results confirm earlier reports of a multiple relaxation process. The data has been fit witih both series and parallel relaxation curves and the temperature dependence of the individual relaxation times determined. The difficulty in distinguishing between the two process is discussed. (Author)
