Abstract : Based on the experimental work described in the report, the following conclusions were reached: Both glycinate and botyrate have serious limitations. The glycinate bath cannot even be considered because it did not produce an adherent coating. The butyrate bath produced a fine coating with excellent adhesion, but deteriorated rapidly. Resistance of the butyrate coating to corrosion by salt spray is comparable to that of a cyanide cadmium coating. (Author)
