Abstract : The inhibitory response of the stomach movements through the vagus nerve was investigated on the dog's pons which was transected the spinal cord previously. The stimulated areas were examined histologically. The inhibitory responses of the stomach movements were induced through the vagus nerve by the stimulation of the pons, as well as the motor responses of the stomach movements. The vagal inhibitory responses were abolished by the bilateral vagotomy and also after the application of hexamethonium bromide. It may be concluded from this experiment that the adrenergic fibers which inhibit the stomach movements are contained in the vagus nerve (motor). A large number of the inhibitory areas were located in the reticular formation, the medial longitudinal fascicle and the vestibular areas. (Author)
