Abstract : This paper deals with an experimental determination of stresses in a pressurized thin hollow cylinder with a circular hole. Brittle coating, mechanical and electrical strain gages and photoelasticity were used for the analysis. A comparison with a theoretical development applied to a similar case is made. Comments on the best experimental procedures to be followed in the solution of this kind of problems are made. (Author)
