Abstract : Certain terrestrial observations from a manned geophysical satellite are considered as a training ground for research on other planets. In particular, it is shown that the experience thus acquired is essential in solving some of the outstanding problems of the Venusian atmosphere by means of a properly designed flyby mission to that planet.
