Abstract : CONCLUSIONS: In cytomegalic lesion (or damage) of kidneys in breast-fed babies there may be no clinical symptoms present, nor any pathological changes in the urine. Morphological changes in the kidneys in cytomegaly are reflected in giant cell changes in the epithelium of the convoluted tubules of the cortical layer with the presence of nuclear abd protoplasmic inclusions in them, as well as granulematosis and productive interstitial changes, most frequently of focal character. In the generalized forms of cytomegaly, the cytomegalic cells are most frequently found in the kidneys; in the localized form, the kidneys of some patients there show the same granulematous changes as in the generalized form, which may also be conditioned by the generalization of this virus infection.
