Abstract : The report investigates the minimization of the backscattering of a metallic loop by an impedance loading method. A conducting, circular loop which is loaded symmetrically with two impedances is assumed to be illuminated by a plane wave at normal incidence. The induced current on the loaded loop is determined. The back-scattered field produced by the loaded loop is calculated. If the loading impedances are chosen properly, the induced current on the loaded loop can be modified in such a way that the back-scattered field from the loop vanishes. The optimum impedance for zero backscattering is explicitly determined. Numerical examples are included. (Author)
