Abstract : It has been shown that small additions of the rare earth fluorides of cerium group increases the ultraviolet light transmission of fluoberyllate glass. This phenomenon has been interpreted. The action of X-rays upon glass with samarium fluoride additions has been investigated and the observed phenomenon has been explained. (Author)
