Abstract : The stabilization of teflex (a poly(fluorochloro ethylene) of Czechoslovakian manufacture) was checked in practice during the processing of the polymer with an extruder and casting under pressure. Especially constructed melting furnaces were used for the processing. The addition of the system bromate-nitric acid permitted the processing teflex by casting under pressure to a temperature of 300 - 340C. At that temperature the viscosity of the melt is sufficiently low, and it is possible to obtain formed pressed objects in weights of up to 120 kg. Mechanical properties of stamped objects were in all cases better than for unstabilized teflex, and dehydration of the polymer during the processing was much lower. Addition of stabilizers does not deteriorate the electrical properties of teflex, which are identical with foreign samples of polytrifluorochloroethylene. (Author)
