Abstract : Universal coding for computers is sought that uses relative addresses and a psevdocode and that assembles and translates, printing out a directory of final addresses of key commands, variables, and constants. The machines must be able to store commands with other words, transfer logic out of sequence, and make decisions. They should be able also to make such elementary commands as adding, multiplying, subtracting, extracting a digit, taking absolute values, taking negatives, shifting digits, and generally transferring information from one place to another.
