Abstract : A study was made in an attempt to gain physical insight into the problem of mound flow, as it applies to the aerodynamics of an Air Cushion Vehicle. It is shown that the potential flow analysis may be identical to the 'slender-body' theory. An hypothesis is developed that expresses the mound flow efficiency as a parameter that is unique for a given shape and which decreases as the height to length ratio increases.
