Abstract : The fundamental equations of eight radiation charts and their computed results are discussed. The effect of pressure and temperature on the transmission functions of the different charts, the absorption and emission of radiation by carbon dioxide and water vapor in the spectral overlapping bands are investigated and a comparison of the various charts for atmospheric emissivity is made. Since these charts give discordant results for the same input, factors causing the discrepancies are analyzed. A preliminary survey on the advantages and disadvantages of each radiation chart is then contemplated in the light of the foregoing discussion. (Author)
