Abstract : A simple and effective method is given for obtaining the inverse of a matrix by the special application of an N step gradient procedure to the solution of a system of linear algebraic equations. The iteration scheme is given as one elementary routine which is repeated N times for a column of the inverse, and then N(N-1) times to determine the remaining columns. With the proposed method of finding the inverse, the computations for one column are independent of those for any other; and errors made in a column are not propogated to the others. (Author)
