Abstract : A simple and effective method is given for obtaining the inverse of a matrix by the special application of an N step gradient procedure to the solution of a system of linear algebraic equations. The iteration scheme is given as one elementary routine which is repeated N times for a column of the inverse, and then N(N1) times to determine the remaining columns. With the proposed method of finding the inverse, the computations for one column are independent of those for any other; and errors made in a column are not propogated to the others. (Author)
