Abstract : Descriptions of the functions of the DER (coastal picket ship) and its CIC are given. Job descriptions of CIC personnel are presented and an optimal arrangement of CIC equipment is indicated, as shown in Figure 1. This arrangement is based on link values derived in other studies. The investigators visited the 26th Air Division Headquarters, the 1st Air Force Headquarters, and the Continental Air Command Headquarters. Information gathered there has been utilized in developing several alternative proposals for integrating the DER with the shore stations, the choice of alternatives depending upon the distance of the ship from the shore station. Alternative suggestions regarding transformation of the polar plots into grid plots are also presented.
