Abstract : As part of a major project on interference in motor performance, seven groups of male subjects (9 to 11 per group) were trained successively to perform the standard task, the reversed task, and again the standard task on the Modified Mashburn Apparatus. It was concluded that an adequate explanation of the principal changes in performance observed in this study apparently involves unlearning concepts comparable to experimental extinction with associated spontaneous recovery.
