Abstract : The velocities in rotational motion of atoms and ions in a plasma device of the homopolar type that is operating in the stationary regime were determined from the Doppler shift of the spectral lines. We used a Fabry-Perot interferometer with both photoelectric and photographic recording of the interference pattern. A comparison of both methods shows that in problems of this type photoelectric recording has significant advantages over photographic, particularly when the contours of the lines are asymmetric.
