Abstract : The solution of the vertical velocity equation derived from the vorticity and thermodynamic equations with the stratospheric effect taken into consideration shows that the disturbances in the stratosphere with a longer wavelength can produce a slight effect on the troposphere but the effect of those with a shorter wavelength can hardly reach that part of the atmosphere. The effect of the disturbances in the troposphere with a longer wavelength on the stratosphere is greater than that in the stratosphere on itself. These effects are equal in the case of a shorter wavelength.
