Abstract : Work resulting in the following accomplishments is summarized: (1) the extension of the theory of excitons to circumstances where charge delocalization is important; (2) the development of a deeper understanding of the nature of dynamical coherence in classical many body systems and its role in transport phenomena; (3) successful completion of a set of experimental studies designed to elucidate the nature of excess electron states in very simple liquids and the development of a zeroth order theory to describe the experimental data; (4) the development of a theory of electronatom scattering and of the Rydberg states of molecules based upon a pseudopotential approach; (5) the development of a new approximation in the equilibrium theory of liquids, its testing against experiment, and the initiation of a study of its implications for the theory of phase transitions.
