Abstract : An epoxide-polyoxypropylene diamine (POPDA-400) cured coating system with improved flexibility, wet adhesion to aluminum substrate, resistance to low (-40F) and high (400F) temperature aging, accelerated weathering and ultra-violet aging over the epoxide-polyamide system was developed for application to Naval aircraft. Polyoxypropylene diamine of molecular weight 490 to 550 (POPDA-400) showed the most promise as a curing agent for the epoxide resins, the cure rate conforming to Contract specifications. Synthesis of POPDA-400 and evaluation of the epoxide-POPDA-400 coating system are described. (Author)
