Abstract : Data and information are presented which demonstrate that coaxial cables can be made from silicone rubber and still have electrical performance comparable to that currently obtained from polyethylene and TFE fluorocarbon for a certain frequency range. Improvement in bending and installation of finished cables can be achieved since the inherent properties of the dielectric material become the cable properties. High temperature service, room temperature flexibility, excellent dielectric strength and low temperature flexibility are among the outstanding characteristics. It is also expected that high corona extinction voltages can be maintained under continued bending because of SRF's flexibility. (Author)
