Abstract : This report is concerned with a series of experiments in which the effects of manipulator restraints, i.e., load dynamics imposed on the operator, are central. The purposes of this investigation are to: Determine the load effects on the human operator's describing functions and performance measures for a representative variety of manipulator restraints and controlled elements. Provide inferential insight into the relative importance of limb position and output force senses in manual control.
