Abstract : This report reviews the work which was aimed at measuring the spectrum of photons that have energies between 30 Kev and 475 Kev emanating from the Crab Nebula. A characteristic spectrum of line gammas was calculated on the basis of heavy-element synthesis in supernovae. A 'gamma ray telescope' was designed, fabricated and flown on balloons to search for this predicted radiation. The telescope is pointed in flight by a servo system. The results of the experiments are described. (Author)
