Abstract : Serum protein fractions were determined on blood samples obtained from the tails of rats at various body temperatures. At high body temperature a large number of samples were lost because of hemolysis. This observation has been reported in patients with burns (Acta Medica. hung. 21:121, 1965). It was also observed that the incidence of hemolysis seemed to increase with repeated blood sampling. Electrophoratic separation was accomplished on cellulose acetate membranes at pH 8.2 (barbital buffer) using a 'microzone' electrophoretic apparatus. Fractional distribution did not change significantly in rat serum with body temperatures increased up to 42.5C. (Author)
