Abstract : High-Yield is the Navy's term for space-saving foods. They are fruits and vegetables with the moisture removed by improved processes; natural fruit juices and milk in powder form; beef that has been prefabricated and trimmed with the bones and wastes removed by the packer; turkey roll, veal cutlets, and liver with no waste, all ready-to-cook. Many of them, with the moisture removed, have a vastly longer storage life compared to the fresh foods--and they save time and labor in preparation.
