Abstract : A comparison of the rotation-vibration and asymmetric rotor (with beta vibrations) models with recent experimental data on some rare earth nuclei is made. For the three lowest rotational bands good agreement with experiment is obtained. The approximate equivalence between the two models is corroborated. The consistency with calculations based on microscopic theories is also achieved. (Author)
