Abstract : Tactical diameters were measured on 360-degree turns using hard-right and hard-left rudder angles at 1275 and 1350 engine RPM with the effect rudders at amidships, and at 1350 and 1480 engine RPM with the effect rudders set at 17 1/2 degrees, trailing edges outboard. Tactical diameters were not obtained at 1200 engine RPM with the effect rudders at amidships due to a casualty to the camera equipment which made triangulation impossible. The results are summarized. Curves of propeller RPM and apparent slip versus speed are given. The lack of complete RPM data has necessitated the fairing of the curves of runs without effect rudders between the available spots.
