Abstract : A microwave measurements round robin was conducted with eight industrial and governmental laboratories using a moderately lossy magneto-dielectric material consisting of a nickel ferrite (38.80 mol % Ni, 0.50 mol % Co) dispersion in polystyrene. The round robin material was prepared by hot compression molding using pressures up to 9000 psi to assure sample uniformity. Identical discs were furnished to each laboratory for measurements from 500 to 2000 MHz using their normal measurement techniques. Several laboratories submitted data in addition to that requested including the effect of sample thickness and certain other variables. The results are presented graphically and with limited statistical analysis. The standard deviation in percent of average value varied over the following range: permeability, mu' - 2.5 to 7.5 percent; mu double prime - 13 to 25 percent permittivity, epsilon' - 3.2 to 7.9 percent, epsilon double prime - 11 to 32 percent. Data analysis failed to show any specific causes of the data dispersion. Random errors from unknown causes overshadow any procedural, equipment or material variations reported by the participating laboratories. (Author)
