Abstract : Material was collected and reared by the staff and cooperators in Anguilla, Barbados, Colombia, Galapagos Islands, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Nevis, Panama, St. Kitts, Trinidad, Venezuela, Virgin Islands, and Arizona, Texas and Utah. Nearly 3,500 collections were processed and about 7,200 slides of individual rearings, 3,000 slides of whole larvae, 600 slides of male genitalia, and 25,000 mounts of adults were prepared in Los Angeles. The type specimens of all New World species located in European museums were examined and the necessary lectotype designations made. The genus Orthopodomyia and the subgenera Howardina and Soperia of Aedes were reviewed and revisions were begun on the subgenus Finlaya of Aedes and Nyssorhynchus of Anopheles. (Author)
