Abstract : The Baikal region is one of the most seismic areas of the globe, because of crustal re-working (reactivation) of the Caledonian platform. This document describes the gravity field of the transbaikal, the magnetic field of the Baikal region, and the pattern of depth-faults and seismicity in the Baikal region. Also included are comments by the translator, describing the Baikalian rift system.
