Abstract : It was determined that the number of vacancies (for Ni), which are situated in 1 cu cm of the deformed metal, as well as its number of dislocations per cu cm. It was revealed that the number of vacancies produced during the deformation of material constitutes merely a few hundredths of 1% of the number of atoms, and increases linearly with an increase in degree of deformation; meanwhile, the number of dislocations per cu cm increases with an increase of deformation according to a more complex law, tending toward saturation at various deformations for different materials. In all cases, at the zero-extrapolation of D, the relative volume variations (and, consequently, the number of defects rising during the deformation) tend toward zero.
