Abstract : The article discusses the developments of a technical conference on the use of computer technology in the field of electric power engineering held December 23-26, 1964 in Moscow. More than forty papers were presented by various organizations. It was noted that the use of computers in electric power engineering is one of the leading trends in scientific research in planning, designing, and organization of the exploitation in electric power engineering. At present regular calculations are being made of regimes of the Ukr SSR electric power system on the Ural-2 computer, daily schedules of the electric power demand in large power supply systems such as YeES (United Power System) of the European part of the USSR are being predicted, computer calculations are being made of the optimal distribution of active loads between electric power stations and systems, and calculations are being made of the optimal positioning of compensating devices in power supply systems. The importance was noted of using results of scientific research in cybernetics for solving problems on the optimization of the development and control of power systems using computer technology. The conference noted a need to create an all-union library of typical programs for standard computers. (Author)
