Abstract : Game-simulations combine exploratory heuristics with analytical, numerical cost effectiveness comparisons of various system configurations reflecting proposed long-range plans. This report considers the advantages and the limitations of this technique in previous applications for the Air Force. It is believed that the game-simulation technique can find its most useful application in large, system projects that contain the broad phases of research, testing, development, support planning, production, and operations, and that also contain a sizeable management control function. Examples are given.
