Abstract : Certain tubing configurations and some lengths of line have been known to cause servo instability in flow control servos. This type of instability generally results in a low amplitude low frequency limit cycle oscillation. The mechanism precipitating this problem, its analytical description, proposed solutions and experimental verification were the basis of the study. Since the valve stability depends largely on the acoustic properties of the hydraulic fluid supply line, the analysis necessarily considers supply line characteristics as well as the valve characteristics.
